The Housing Innovation Alliance (HIA) is proud to lead the Housing Innovation Challenge—a premier national platform advancing resilient, affordable, and forward-thinking housing solutions. Building on a strong legacy of industry collaboration and innovation, HIA will host the inaugural event under its direction in Charlotte, North Carolina, in June 2026, in conjunction with the Housing Innovation Summit.

International architecture schools and research institutions are already participating, with designs underway and prototypes emerging. The competition will feature full-scale homes, an industry showcase, and interactive exhibits. With tens of thousands of expected visitors, the Housing Innovation Challenge will set a new benchmark for design-build excellence and the future of off-site housing.
